Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready is heading to San Diego Comic-Con 2026, and he won’t just be bringing a guitar. In a recent interview with American Songwriter, McCready said he’s planning to attend SDCC this year to promote Farewell to Seasons, his upcoming original graphic novel and companion rock opera from Z2 Comics.
Farewell to Seasons is set in a fictionalized version of Seattle’s grunge heyday, blending real emotional history with fantasy elements and original characters inspired by the scene that shaped him. Co-written with Mark Sable and illustrated by Sebastián Piriz, the book follows three interconnected characters through the rise and fallout of the Seattle music scene from the mid-’80s to the mid-’90s, with supernatural figures woven into the story.
The deluxe edition also includes a vinyl LP of McCready’s “lost” rock opera, written from the perspective of one of the book’s central characters, and McCready has hinted he may release some advance tracks before the full project arrives on October 6, 2026. You can pre-order the standard, deluxe, or platinum editions now on Z2’s website.
The project feels tailor-made for Comic-Con, and Z2 Comics — who has made a name for themselves blending the worlds of music and comics — tends to go big at the con on promoting their projects, with everything from panels to autograph signings on the show floor. It should be a rockin’ good time.
