Committed Comics is back at San Diego Comic-Con for another year of celebrating creator-owned comics, independent talent, and the artists behind them. You’ll once again find them in Small Press at Booth #L-09, where they’ll be debuting new books, welcoming creators for signings, and offering portfolio reviews. Fans looking for pre-con commissions for artist Raul H Montiel can also get on his list now, starting at a very economical $60.
While the exact signing schedule is still TBA, you can find a wide roster of artists at Committed Comics throughout the weekend, including:
- Thomas Doherty – Tales from the Asylum
- Raul H Montiel – Miss Miniver, Freakmeter
- Kit Steele – Tea Dragons, Freakmeter
- Bill Maus – Nira-X, Tales from the Asylum
- Kat Maus – Nira-X
And yes, here at the UBlog, we have once again teamed up with Committed Comics for several giveaways throughout the week! Attendees can score free daily badge ribbons simply by keeping an eye on the publisher’s social media channels (Twitter / Instagram / Facebook) for the daily password to claim one, while supplies last.

New this year is the first-ever Committed Comics ribbon, available all weekend long. Just tell the crew “I’m COMMITTED!” (or simply ask nicely).

Freebies are also back! If you’re missing Prize Mule trading cards from previous years, simply stop by the booth and proclaim, “I wish I was a Prize Mule!” to pick up a card, while supplies last.

Attendees can also pick up plenty of exciting items at the booth.
[UPDATE July 4]
Fans can stop by to pick up several exclusives, including:
Sancho the Angry Chipmunk Art Nouveau Print — $40
Editor-in-Chief Thomas Doherty’s perpetually grumpy woodland hero is getting the Art Nouveau treatment with a gorgeous new San Diego Comic-Con 9″x12″ exclusive print, limited to 25 copies that come signed by both Sacho creator Doherty and watercolor artist Kit Steele.
Collectors can also add a 9″x12″ protective top loader for $5 to help get their print home safely.

Nira-X: Savage Valley Print — $25
Nira-X returns with a new SDCC-exclusive print celebrating “Savage Valley”. The 7″x10″ print is limited to only 30 copies on ultra-bright white fine art paper and come signed by creator Bill Maus. Fans looking for something extra can upgrade to a remarked edition by Bill or Kat Maus for $50.

Original Art by Kit Steele
Beyond her fan-favorite Tea Dragons prints, Kit Steele will also have a wide selection of original watercolor artwork available throughout the weekend, with prices ranging from $75 to $600. And if you’re keeping track, Steele has now illustrated more than 35 Tea Dragons, so there are plenty to choose from.
[UPDATE June 26]
Up first, Kit Steele returns to Committed Comics with Tea Dragons: Whimsy and Watercolor, her charming illustration collection featuring 31 tiny, teacup-sized dragons inspired by different types of teas. Each dragon is accompanied by a recipe on how to make the perfect cup of their tea.

Fans can also pick up Nira-X: Dark Seas, the final issue in the latest CyberAngels mini-series. Attendees can also snag a limited number of variant covers for issue #3 featuring artwork by Jonathan Hallett, Kat Maus, and John Stinsman while supplies last.
