How big is the Under the Tents? How much news could there possibly be in only one day? How many posts could our team possibly find on social media during their waking hours? Well, let me just tell you all that the person who started this post is NOT the same person who finished it. It took TWO PEOPLE to write this [Editor’s Note: Thank you Erin!!]. THAT is how much news there was today. And it’s only June. Uff da.
Let’s take a look at the news you might have missed:
- Love ninjas? Love punk rock? Then you’re going to love Nate Lovett’s Punk Rawk Ninja (LE 50), which is set to rock the convention. The 32-page San Diego Comic-Con exclusive shreds, as it tells the tale of Sheena, a punk rock bassist who must recover her bass from a shady corporation, escaping guards, fighting robots, and ultimately being true to herself. Battle your way to Booth #EE-04 in Artist Alley, where you can pick it up alongside prints, original art, and more.
- Every shelf is a showdown at Archrival Comics. Jonathan Bolerjack took to Facebook to show off a new banner for San Diego Comic-Con, so stop by to find your new best friend… or your new mortal enemy.
- The Olympics kick off on Friday, July 26, in the middle of the convention, so what better time to celebrate athletes? Athletes in Tabletop, that is. You can show off your tabletop prowess by letting Johnny Stanton know who might be a good panelist for his SDCC panel.
Need another panelist for our SDCC “Athletes in Tabletop” panel. Who should be on it?? Please let me know because I’m DYING here lol

- My, what big exclusives you have. Artist Sean Forney showed off his first San Diego Comic-Con exclusive comic book for Scarlett Huntress, a re-imagining of Little Red Riding Hood co-created with Stephanie Forney. The SDCC exclusive will be unleashing 25 copies of each Trade Dress and Virgin, for $10 each, at either Small Press #K-03 or Artist Alley #EE-03.
- Beast Kingdom will be roaring onto the San Diego Comic-Con soon enough with four new exclusives. We’ve got some good guests for the tease they showed off, but we want to know what you think the four exclusives are.

- Add a little more booty to your San Diego Comic-Con loot when you pick up James Silvai’s pirate-themed temporary tattoos at #II-06.
Do you like stickers? How about temporary tattoos?
— James Silvani (@SilvaniArt) June 25, 2024
What if they were pirate themed?
Well then you should avoid my table at SDCC ‘cause I don’t think your heart can take it. pic.twitter.com/t4vgOfnkF0
- The Comic-Con Museum is honoring Betty Boop with a new exhibit, celebrating nearly 100 years of the cultural icon. Now Fleischer Cartoons has hinted at a Comic-Con panel with a new restored Betty Boon cartoon or two. Could the two be related?
We’ve been confirmed for a @Comic_Con panel! Will share details soon! New restored Betty Boop toons perhaps?

- It’s always 5 o’clock somewhere. And it’s always 5 o’clock at the Beeline Creative office. Sip in their new Trader Vader’s tees, available at San Diego Comic-Con.
- Comic Book Men star Ming Chen is heading back to the convention for autograph signings again this year. Stop by the Sails Autograph Area to say hi and talk favorite comics with him.
See you soon @Comic_Con – San Diego is going to be epic this year! pic.twitter.com/ybXBh4gKnS

- Massive-Verse creator Kyle Higgins took to his Substack newsletter to announce that much of the team will be attending San Diego Comic-Con. They will be a part of the Comic Sketch Art booths, on the periphery of Artist’s Alley (booth TBA). Along with Kyle will be Ryan Parrott, Joe Clark, Cherish Chen, Kelly McMahon, Brian Buccellato, and Melissa Flores. They will all be signing and sharing all the massive merriment you could possibly imagine. Fans will also be able to snag a brand new foil variant edition of the new Supermassive 2024 special. The book is limited to 300 copies and features art by Tony Daniel and Igor Monti.
- BUT THAT’S NOT ALL! The Massive-verse crew will also have a new enamel pin and copies of the foil variants of No One #1 – 3, along with a slew of other exclusives, yet to be revealed.
- Shawn “Big Clutch” Kirkham isn’t nearly done announcing his exclusives. Over on Facebook he showed off a very limited ashcan for Image’s Universal Monsters: Frankenstein that he’ll be offering. We are still waiting for details on how you’ll be able to score his exclusives.
- Pin Up artist Lorenzo Sperlonga is promising cards, prints, originals and more at his booth, #4812, which is his traditional spot.
Only a month away! Same spot as usual, I hope to see you there! Who is going to San Diego Comic Con this year? pic.twitter.com/RECSKWI7y9

- Need a stiff drink? You’re not the only one. The new animated sci-fi animated film Isla Monstro wants to give you a reason to think of them every time you say “bottoms up” and will be offering this shot glass at their Booth #1901 at San Diego Comic-Con.
- Wanna work in the coolest place on the planet, with some of the coolest people on the planet, selling some of the coolest pins on the planet? Little Shop of Pins is looking for a few convention helpers for SDCC. Let them know if you are interested.

- Tucked into this post on Instagram is some exciting news from Dynamite Entertainment’s Nick Barrucci. They will be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Dynamite at a panel on Friday the 26th and promise they are working on “more star power!” With a company featuring as many excellent licensed properties as Dynamite, this is going to be something to look forward to.
- Every year, the San Diego International Children’s Film Festival kicks off in conjunction with Comic-Con and every year they screen dozens of fantastic films. They have recently added their full schedule to their website where you can see descriptions about each film. Catch all the action on Sunday, July 28, 2024 from 10am to 5pm in Room 9AB.
- Unknown Comic Books has revealed a stellar San Diego Comic-Con exclusive variant cover for Marvel’s Avengers Annual #10 Facsimile Edition. This limited variant by superstar artist David Nakayama is a foil cover with Rogue breaking through. Absolutely stunning.
- If you’re not exploring new independently published comics at Comic-Con, are you even Comic-Conning? Here’s one you’ll want to check out from German Adriazola, hailing from Chile. He’ll be there with his book, Kanin The Marauder.
- Deep in this Bleeding Cool article about Witchblade #1’s impressive order numbers is news that fans will be able to find three foil variant covers exclusively at San Diego Comic-Con. We previously showed you one of them, from Shawn “Big Clutch” Kirkham, but there will be an Image exclusive as well as Top Cow exclusive. There will also be multiple variants from exhibiting retailers available, but those won’t be foil covers.
- We love, love, love that Digital Pimp is creating original art pieces from their brown paper bags for San Diego Comic-Con. How cool will it be to carry all your newly-bought exclusives and goodies in a one-of-a-kind bag? Well done, Digital Pimp!
- We are still a few days away from Chris Maze’s first SDCC reveals but to tide you (and us) over, here’s another original piece of art that he will have at his booth. This 3″ x 3″ mixed media piece of Final Fantasy VII‘s Cloud Strife will come framed and ready to display.
This is a 3×3" original 1-of-1 art piece of Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII #FF7. In it, Cloud is holding an exaggerated Buster Sword (I had fun with that). It's a mixed media piece on mixed media paper and it will come framed. Debuting at #SDCC. Price to come. pic.twitter.com/UjVeLI18oH

- Hey! Kids Love Comics! That means kids love John Gallagher’s Max Meow graphic novel series. But let’s be real, grown-ups love Max Meow too. Lucky for us, John Gallagher will be at SDCC, so pack up all five of those Max Meow books and bring them to get signed, right MEOW! (Or maybe next month!)
Headed to Comic-Con International next month! Join me and Max Meow: Cat Crusader for Comic-Con July 25–28, 2024, in San Diego! pic.twitter.com/CzrsOs3XOM

- And lastly, here’s something sweet to end this UTT with. Think of it as dessert for the soul. Martin Hsu knows you can’t rush a masterpiece, so he’s taking his time on his Ted Lasso x Cats SDCC exclusive. We suggest Hsu curls up and enjoys a little cat nap before proceeding. *yawn* Maybe we’ll take our own advice…..zzzz.
Slow and steady wins the race?

Taking my time with this final #SDCC #TedLassoCats exclusive. What pleasure and privilege to make art inspired by characters and stories we love. I’m a fan! pic.twitter.com/3A3BebqCYx
