When life hands you lemons, you make lemonade, right? What about when the global brand that acquired you in 2022 dismantles your company less than a year later?
If you’re the co-founders and senior creative director for Mondo, you gather together some of the best creative minds in your industry, a stellar like-minded production company and you create something all your own.
Such is the tale of Mutant.
Now, to be fair, that’s an over-simplification of the events that took place. But for fans and friends of Mitch Putnam, Spencer Hickman, Eric Garza, Mo Shafeek and new partner Jenny Jacobi, it’s really about the headline. They’re back, baby. They are so back.
And “back” includes a booth at San Diego Comic-Con, where Mutant will making their triumphant debut at booth #616. Back to the other side of the exhibit floor, near where the lines for Olly Moss’ Dark Knight Rises print stretched as far as the eye could see.
But enough about the past, let’s talk about Mutant’s future, specifically, their immediate future and what they will be bringing with them to SDCC to pique the interest of the movie fans.

[Update #3 July 18]
We would be absolutely remiss if we didn’t mention the amazing vinyl soundtrack group at Mutant and it should be no surprise that they too are revealing some San Diego Comic-Con exclusives. Scoring one of these Wonka Original Motion Picture Soundtrack exclusive records might make you feel a lot like you just found a Golden Ticket. Limited to just 50 copies, this exclusive features candy-filled records. Actual candy. Each record has colorful Nerds candies inside that can move around inside the vinyl. This could only come from the mind of Willy Wonka himself.
For those of us with Charlie Bucket budgets, there will also be a clear vinyl set sans candy, but just as sweet.
