“House of the Dragon” Flying into San Diego Comic-Con 2026 with Something

Something powerful is heading to San Diego Comic-Con this summer.

Last year when it was announced thatĀ House of the Dragon, theĀ Game of Thrones prequel series now heading into its third season on June 21, would be skipping the convention in 2025, showrunner Ryan Condel told fans not to worry. “I will make a triumphant return next year and it will be one for the ages… or something,ā€ he joked at the time.

And now, it appears, that the time has come.

Condal also co-hosts a podcast about the world of prop-collecting,Ā The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of, with formerĀ Veep showrunner David Mandel. They’ve already confirmed that they’ll be hosting a live podcast panel at the con this year, which means that Condal is definitely on-site. And that certainly left open the door for Condal to be pulling double duty for House of the Dragon.

On a recent episode, Mandel and Condal seemed to confirm basically exactly that. The two had the following exchange:

Mandel: You’ll be at Comic-Con also, doubly, right? There’s going to be a panel.
Condal: There’s going to be a thing.

While not an outright confirmation of a panel, it very likely means Condal just isn’t allowed to announce yet. And regardless, fans can definitely expectĀ some kind of presence for the series at the convention.

Our guess? At least an episode screening, as the series will still be airing weekly episodes through August 9. They held one in 2023 as well, which Condal described last summer as “a really cool event that went really well.”

“I’m hoping we can do something like that, something surprising for the fans to just sock the Comic-Con audience right in the middle of it,” Condal said at the time last summer. “I will be pushing for that, because I love going down there and doing that stuff.”
