Under the Tents 2026: Nan Hockin, Minor Threats, Labyrinth, Joyce Chin

I know Obsession is so last month, but I was wondering recently if there was an SDCC-related application of the One Wish Willow that would NOT have catastrophic or unintended consequences. There’s got to be something… I mean, what’s the “Nikki screaming in a diner” equivalent to wishing for guaranteed offsite reservations??? Makes you think.

Anyways, if you’re like me and have had your San Diego Comic-Con 2026 prep attention span severely affected by the World Cup this month, you (and I) have got so much to catch up on from just this past week: Mattel and Funko exclusives! The Fandom party‘s back! Tiny Chef‘s back, too! But Hallmark isn’t! And there’s A Grimm reunion! You get the idea. And by next week, we’ll be past July 4, which serves as an unofficial boundary that, when it gets crossed, means we go from “a lot of announcements” to “a METRIC TON of announcements,” which both excites and terrifies me as a perennial overplanner.

Here’s the latest roundup of the rest of the news that’s fit to print post on social media. As always, if you knew about everything below already, please consider joining our team:

  • Starting with a steady stream of Nan Hockin updates! Fittingly for SDCC, aka Christmas in July, Nan Hockin is bringing these Artoo and Chewie hand-felted ornaments to Booth #F-11.

  • Next, we’ve got Nan’s print tribute to the musical Hadestown.

  • Thirdly, this Nan print pays homage to Brewster, the pigeon barista from Animal Crossing. As someone who is/was never got into Animal Crossing, “pigeon barista” is a combination of words I never thought I’d write.

  • Finally, why go with a Hallmark or Papyrus card when you can get something way cooler? Nan will have plenty of cards for you to peruse from, all for a super reasonable $5-10 price!

  • Also on the Gram of the Insta variety, apparel shop Artistic Flavorz gave us a sneak peek, excuse me, a sneaky peek, at some kimono designs that’ll debut at SDCC.

  • Sticking to updates from the ol’ IG, Collectors creator Eddie deAngelini showed off the cover of Untold Tales of Collectors #0... He, wait a minute…. if this is being published, wouldn’t these stories be told? Therefore no longer untold? Hmm… now that’s a thinker. In the meantime, think about picking up this SDCC exclusive next month, which may or may not be retailing for $10 if I’m reading the cover correctly.

  • Over on the Sky of the Blue variety, Minor Threats co-creator Jordan Blum took the opportunity while sharing the announcement of a new anthology series to tease additional happenings at the Comic-Con of the San Diego variety. Sounds like a major threat, IMHO.

Just announced with some insane talent coming to play. Also big things coming at SDCC!

  • Another one from the butterflied network comes from artist and illustrator Dawn Wolf with a gallery of framed acrylic paintings that will be available at Dawn’s booth in Small Press N7.

Got these super small Victorian gothic looking picture frames and added small tiny acrylic paintings inside.Plan on selling them at San Diego Comic Con at my booth in Small Press N7 in July.

  • The official, full Comic-Con panel schedule should be coming out starting on July 9. In the meantime, the gradual shift from “vague and cryptic” to “fully detailed” panel announcements from participants continues. This newest one comes courtesy of creative agency Stulac Marketing. On Saturday (July 25), 6:30pm-7:30pm in Grand 6 at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, will be “Filmmaking in the New Era,” where a panel will discuss the nuts and bolts (such as brand partnerships, distribution strategies, increasing visibility, and dealmaking) of maximizing a film’s impact and visibility. On the panel (left to right in the image below) are Jennifer Fischer (executive director, Journeys in Film), Brian Walker (CEO, Picture Motion), Alex Stulac (founder, Stulac Marketing… ohhhh), Alexa Whiteside (CEO, WAM Entertainment Law), and Tara McNamara (film critic, Critics’ Choice Association).

  • Another panel announcement comes courtesy of artist Tricia Buchanan-Benson, who counts Lucasfilm and Star Wars amongst her client portfolio, who dropped the deets for a Sunday (July 26) panel, 11am-12pm in Grand 12-13 at the Marriott Marquis. She’ll be joined by fellow Star Wars artists and creatives Krystina Arielle, Karen Hallion, Sarah Wilkinson, and Annette Lilly for “No Girls Allowed,” (but really they are), a much-deserved spotlight on five women bringing their artistic talents to that galaxy far, far away.

  • Ted Sikora, creator behind the Kickstarter comic Punchline and the Vaude-Villains vs Violante #1, is turning the below Geof Isherwood print into an SDCC exclusive spot-foil cover for $30 at the con, though we don’t have details quite yet on where to purchase. Existing campaign backers have a chance to add it on for $27, though they’ll have to hurry as the campaign ends on Tuesday, June 30.

  • Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, Broken Oar Comics rowed into our inboxes to announce that Return to Misfit Island graphic novel which will debut at SDCC. The sequel to the initial Misfit Island by Sara Silver, Nicholas Doan, and Bobby Timony, can be found at Small Press Booth #Q-05. The first 100 customers to buy Return will receive an SDCC exclusive sticker with purchase (not necessarily the image below).

  • I know hyping up your latest announcements with buzzwords, fluff, and marketing speak is part of the social media and marketing game these days, but I love a good no-frills announcement that cuts to the chase. So thank you panelist and former IDW executive David Hedgecock for keeping it to the point on Bluesky in posting details for the Thursday panel he’ll be appearing on, “Pitching Your Vision and Developing IP.”

Going to SDCC and looking to break into the industry? We got you!Pitching Your Vision and Developing IP, Thursday, 7/23/2026, 5:00PM – 6:00PM, Room: 25ABCIndustry vets John Barber, Joseph Illidge, Kristen Simon, Tom Waltz, David Hedgecock and Shannon Denton! Moderated by Denton J. Tipton!

  • Alright, here comes some updates from the Book of the Face variety. The Masters of the Universe movie may have underperformed at the box office, but the property still makes for killer art from artists like Sean Forney, who’ll have this MOTU piece available at Artists’ Alley #EE-03.

  • Next, David Bowie and Jim Henson’s cult classic film Labyrinth was released in 1986. We’re now in 2026. 2026 minus 1986… borrow from the 2…. equals 40… ah, it’s the 40th anniversary of Labyrinth! It would be extremely convenient if a figures company like Kaustic Plastik created a Labyrinth figure for their Maestro Line… and brought it to display at the returning Sideshow Collectibles Booth #2401… right? What a labyrinth of a blurb this was.

  • Next, we got a good look at an exclusive Hybrid #1 cover from Kevin Tran. You’ll find this at Visual Vibration Booth #M-07 in Small Press. If you prefer convenience, it’s available for preorder for $20 on the Project Naosis website; with orders being shipped to you.

  • DC Comics artist Gavin Guidry is making his San Diego Comic-Con debut this year (exciting!) and is marking the occasion with a sale on his website; use code PICKUP to skip the shipping costs and pick up your art and give Gavin a big, SDCC welcome in-person.

  • Artist and jewelry maker Elizabeth Wallace showed off an impressive spread of pendants and earrings – made from circuit boards! – that will be made for sale at the no-badge-required art show at the Manchester Grand Hyatt.

  • Artist and Dying Is Easy co-creator Martin Simmonds will be at Comic-Con all five days, specifically at Booth #2314. He’s also opened up an advance commission list via Scott’s Collectables, with remarques starting at $100. If you scroll by this tidbit and forget about it later, shocker: full instructions on requesting a commission from Simmonds can also be found on our list of Open Artist Commissions.

  • We can expect the BAIT x tokidoki collaboration/partnership will continue full steam ahead at SDCC 2026, per BAIT’s Instagram. Unfortunately, there are absolutely zero details beyond that.

  • We got a great look at Marvel artist Joyce Chin’s SDCC exclusive: a Marvel Signature print of her cover for Spider-Man / Elektra Annual 1998. Swing by Booth #4700 to grab it.

My San Diego Comic Con exclusive Marvel Signature print of Peter Parker Spider-Man and Elektra annual 1, from 1998. We’ll have it available at booth 4700! I actually only had a pencilled copy of this, not the inked, so this is me inking over 1998 me!

  • Following up on a previous Under the Tents item, preorders are now available for Joe Schmalke and Megan Hutchison’s Coffin Girls #1 SDCC exclusive covers for Saturday or Sunday pick-up only at the con. The regular exclusive cover is limited to 15 copies, while the glow-in-the-dark version is limited to 10 copies and comes bundled with the regular cover. Remark options are also available.

  • One of the Small Press Area’s finest, Jeff Pina, will be set up at Booth #Q-06. Among the many worthy reasons for you to exchange money for goods and services with Jeff is his extensive catalog of graphic novels, of which you can count SuperPawn Vol. 2 among the options.

  • Chinese toy designer Mr. Bone will be bringing their My Own Culture product line to SDCC this year. Details are extremely scarce, so if we don’t hear anything else in the next few weeks, I guess you’ll have to go visit Booth #4737 for all the bony, little details.
