“Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence” Slices Into San Diego Comic-Con 2026

After more than 40 years, the Killer Tomatoes are coming home. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence, the fifth film in the cult horror-comedy franchise, is headed to San Diego Comic-Con ahead of its theatrical release this August. Fittingly, the original installment was largely filmed and produced in San Diego, bringing the series back to the city where it all began in 1978.

Fans can catch the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence panel on Friday, July 24 at 7:15pm in Room 6A. The panel will feature producer Michael Polis (Yo Gabba Gabba!), director David Ferino, original franchise creator Costa Dillon, and cast members Dan Bakkedahl (Veep), Myrna Velasco (Star Wars Resistance), Zachary Roozen, Samantha Bailey, and Noor Razooky.

Attendees can expect the world premiere of the film’s official trailer, exclusive footage, an audience Q&A, and even a special appearance by Norman the Killer Tomato.

The new film follows a young biotech prodigy whose genetically engineered super vegetable is meant to solve humanity’s problems—but instead unleashes a fresh crop of killer tomatoes. The cast also includes David Koechner, Eric Roberts, Catherine Corcoran, and the return of franchise favorite John Astin as Professor Gangreen.

Fans can also stop by the Atomic Toybox Booth #3917 throughout the convention, where they’ll find Attack of the Killer Tomatoes merchandise including posters, tomato plush (!), apparel, skateboards, and more.

“Attack of the Killer Tomatoes started in San Diego in 1978, and now it’s coming home,” said Steve Peace, who co-wrote and produced the original 1978 film. “We made this one in the city that created it, and there’s no better stage for its return than the biggest pop culture weekend of the year.”
