WonderPost 2023: Rhode Montijo, David Dastmalchian, Jae Lee, WuvableOaf

This is it, friends, the last Monday before WonderCon 2023. Are you ready? Do you know where all the photoshoots and meet-ups are? Have you browsed the exclusives? Have you considered commissioning some art? Many will agree that proper preparation is the key to enjoying any convention, so get those ducks in a row now, you’ll be happy you did!

But have no doubt, there is still news rolling in, including lots of original art and autograph opportunities you won’t want to miss.

Let’s take a look at the news you might have missed:

  • Artist JL Grillo has put the finishing touches on some artist trading cards he’ll be bringing to WonderCon. But that won’t be all he’ll have at Small Press #SP-43: you can also pick up some originals and some mixed media pieces he showed off on Instagram.

  • Exhibitor Toyz N Fun is bringing the heat to booth #1465, in the form of an exclusive Loungefly Maleficent Dragon mini backpack. This backpack has glow-in-the-dark accents, black tone hardware, glittery shimmer fabric and is made of faux leather.

  • Welcome to the Fantasmical World of Rhode Montijo! Booth #912 will be an extra special place full of fun, friendly ghosts and all things Halloween. At this all-cardboard booth you’ll get a free spin with any purchase of $60 or more. What’s on the wheel? Tons of fun prizes, including a spot where you can win ALL the prizes! A few of the things you’ll find include Montijo’s delightful Mystery Boxes (made to look like vintage boxes) prints, pins and metal signs.

  • We’re got two more pieces from artist Jeff Pina, these ones are for the Lil Gothamites and the Tron fiends. Snag a one-of-a-kind sketched comic cover for Batman Lil Gotham at his booth, #C-59 in Artist Alley. While you’re there, travel to a world inside the computer where man has never been with Pina’s Tron inspired print.

  • And while we have the attention of the Trekkies, let’s talk about those Tribbles! David Gerrold, prolific writer and creator of those pesky (but adorable) Tribbles, will be signing at the Tribble Toys booth, #1701, on Saturday, March 25 for 1pm – 3pm.

  • Artist Nan Hockin has framed up all these original drawings and will have them on display and available for purchase during WonderCon. If you hear some squeeing and “OMG It’s so cute!” coming from Artist Alley, it will likely be from Nan’s booth, #C-38!
