Copy of Comic Conference for Educators/Librarians

San Diego Comic-Con is about so much more than just movies and television. The San Diego Public Library and Comic-Con International have come together for the “Comic Conference for Educators and Librarians” (CCEL), a series of panels held at the Shiley Special Events Suite at the San Diego Central Library.

The CCEL panels span all five days of SDCC and are free to attend and open to the public. Those interested can register now at the SD Public Library website to reserve a seat. Comic-Con badge holders are welcome to attend without registering.

Here’s an overview of what you can look forward to:

Wednesday, July 20, 4-6PM: Teaching with Comics Workshop for Educators (Register here) — A hands-on workshop for integrating comic books into your classrooms.

Thursday, July 21, 10AM-7PM: Library Panels (Register here) — Connect with the communities that help establish who you are as a library through the use of comics and their unique storytelling capabilities.

Friday, July 22, 10AM-7PM: Publisher Panels (Register here) — From kindergarten to seniors in high school, comics are an exciting and effective tool for all students no matter where they are in their K-12 journey.

Saturday, July 23, 10AM-7PM: Educator Panels (Register here) — Connect with the communities that help establish who you are as a library through the use of comics and their unique storytelling capabilities.

Sunday, July 21, 11AM-4PM: Geek-ed Panels (Register here) — Geek out about higher education! From boosting college students socially and academically, comics and nerd culture are of greater value than most realize.
