Committed Comics San Diego Comic-Con 2021 Exclusives & Portfolio Reviews

Committed Comics has been a mainstay at San Diego Comic-Con since the year 2000, just a year after they were officially formed. They continue to break boundaries in the field of independent comics with a growing roster of creators and alumni that includes both Camilla D’Errico and Dustin Weaver.

This year Committed Comics is offering exclusives, debuts, and merch for the convention, as well as putting a digital spin on one of the most honored traditions at Comic-Con: the portfolio review (with details below). All of their regular merch is available now on their website.

You can find all the information, plus some helpful tips on their website.

Here are all the details you need to get your work seen:

Dates and Times of Portfolio reviews:
Saturday, July 24 – Between 9AM – 5PM
Sunday, July 25 – Between 9AM – 5PM
Hours may be adjusted based on quantity of submissions.

HOW/WHAT To Submit
Email portfolios to: sdccportfolios@committedcomics.com
Subject Line: NAME – Discipline – AGE (ex: Jones Johens – Inker – 26)
Body of the email: Briefly tell us about yourself and provide at least two preferred dates and times for your meeting. We will do our best to accommodate your requests, though depending on the amount of submissions we receive the time and date might be randomly chosen.
Your Portfolio: Submissions should be a single PDF document. Information provided below for additional details. Have a contact information page and you can include links to additional samples. Maximum size accepted is 15 megs. If you file is larger than 15 megs either reduce the items represented or compress the file. We will NOT be visiting website links, dropbox/file transfer websites to see your portfolio.

What your portfolio should contain:
Pencilers/Inkers – Please have 4 – 5 samples sequential pages and no more than 2 pin ups and at least 2 cover examples (covers and pin ups ARE different). Please show mercy on our email and don’t have your samples higher than 150-200 dpi and make sure they are in a single PDF file (bookmarks are fine but not required).
Colorists – Please have up to 4 sample sequential pages (they don’t need to be 4 pages of the same sequential story). 1 Pinup or Cover piece. Show mercy on our email and keep your samples at 200 dpi or lowers and in a single PDF file (bookmarks are fine but not required).
Letterers – 3 pages of sequential lettered pages (ensure the pages have both dialogue as well as text boxes), a SFX tear sheet and if possible a logo sample (this isn’t required but it would be helpful). The logo sample doesn’t need to be a new book logo, it can be your take on a redesign of a current book logo.
Series Pitches – Have at least 4 pages of finished artwork as well as the cover for your first issue. A single page synopsis of your series/pitch as well as a product detail sheet.
