Two weeks from today, San Diego Comic-Con will be starting. Go ahead and freak out. We are.
We’ve got an early morning Under the Tents for you, with updates on artists like Jason Edmiston and Patrick Ballesteros, free pins, new Firefly patches, a tease from G4, and more Grogus than you’ll know what to do with.
Here’s a look at some of the news you might have missed:
- One of our favorite comic shops, Now or Never Comics, will be kickstarting SDCC week with two signings. Swing by on Tuesday, July 19 from 3pm-7pm for a signing with comic writer Ryan Cady, or Wednesday, July 20 from 5:30pm-7:30pm for a signing with comic writer Erica Schultz.
- We’ll have a full post up with artist Jason Edmiston’s “Eyes Without A Face” pieces and more for San Diego Comic-Con soon enough, but for now, here’s a look at “The Cat”.

- Shiny! The California Browncoats have new Firefly patches and stickers available at their booth in Small Press #A-07 and and #A-08.
- G4 was in many ways responsible for helping to usher in the San Diego Comic-Con that we know and love, as they were part of those on the forefront of livestreaming the con. And now, they’re going on an adventure… We can guess to where.
- Author Jacob Johnston’s latest book, The Art of Ron Cobb, can pre-ordered at Stuart NG Books Booth #5012 — where you’ll also receive an exclusive Nostromo pin.
- Jeff Pina has created a new X-Factor print, which will be headed to Small Press #Q-06.
- Indie Comix Dispatch gave a little information on Scout Comics’ Eternus series from actor and filmmaker Andy Serkis and artist Andrew Levitas, and mentioned to “be on the lookout for San Diego Comic-Con 2022 exclusives”.
- Artist Patrick Ballesteros is working on a last minute work-in-progress print for the con, and gee, it looks… strange.
- You can stop by Table #1229 to find artists Alina Pete, Sam Logan, and Kel McDonald, where McDonald will have free pins of pi-rate cats or anyone who supports the Seven Seas Union. You can find more information on their blog page.
- Find board game print shop Print & Play at Small Press #B-02. Game on!
- What’s cuter than Grogu? 50 Grogus! Artist Nan Hockins will be bringing “exactly 50” of these little cuties to Small Press #F-11.
