Under the Tents 2025: Monkey Minion, Mosh Eisley, Viz Media, Carla Cohen

While (almost) all eyes are focused on the upcoming WonderCon 2025 in Anaheim later this month, that doesn’t mean that news about San Diego Comic-Con isn’t still leaking out. Most recently we’ve seen some news about  Hasbro’s Transformers exclusive, as well as their G.I. Joe exclusive. The return of Paramount+’s Lodge was also confirmed, and several more artists opened up their commission lists. Based on that anecdotal evidence, I’d say that San Diego Comic-Con news season has well and truly started. It’s not a deluge, but it’s a sprinkle.

Today we have lots and lots of schedule announcement plus some print exclusives and more.

Let’s take a look:

  • Mosh Eisley dubs themselves the “best emo/punk party in the galaxy” and we haven’t heard anything to the contrary. Recently on Threads they announced the date and location of their SDCC event (Friday, July 25 at the Musicbox). If you like to party with your fellow droids and Jedis then make sure to follow Mosh Eisley on social media to find out how to secure yourself some tickets.
  • From California to Abu Dhabi to London and back to California. Artist Daniele Afferni will be crisscrossing the globe a few times to fulfill his spring and summer schedule, according to his recent Instagram post.
  • Artist and illustrator Chris Maze is never afraid to try something new with his art and we appreciate that about him! We look forward to seeing what he has planned for San Diego Comic-Con 2025, at least one print of which is “stylistically different.”

  • Viz Media never disappoints at conventions, with their vast array of exclusive plus extraordinary creator signing sessions and fun giveaways. We are happy to know that Viz will once again be at San Diego Comic-Con in July, according to their tweeted schedule.

  • We so very much love Jeff Pina’s playful and fun style and are happy to see that once again he’ll be setting up at San Diego Comic-Con as part of a very busy agenda. We also saw that he’s hard at work on some convention season prints, including Moon Knight and Superman. Will Pina also be making some of his iconic originals? Fingers crossed!
  • The Monkey Minion folks are currently set up at Emerald City Comic-Con and they showed off some really fun products like a new anthology book, new prints and pin holder standees. Will they have anything left for SDCC after this stacked schedule? What if they sell out of everything?!?!

Here's our confirmed con schedule (so far) for 2025. I'll try to remember to update it with floor locations as soon as I get them. Astute viewers may notice that GenCon has been added back to the list!

  • Ahhh…there we go! Monkey Minion confirms that they will be bringing the new Firefly print with them to SDCC. Browncoats, you may now breathe a sigh of relief.

I’ll definitely have them at sdcc. 🙂 it’s 12×18, for her reference.

Been watching Firefly recently. (Also just realized I’ve lost my dvd of Serenity. Boo) Had this quote running around in my head for the past couple of months, for some reason (can’t imagine why), so I finally got around to making a poster.

  • Speaking of Browncoats… the California Browncoats will have some super fun buttons that will be available at their table during conventions. It’s hard to wrap my head around that it’s the TWENTIETH anniversary of Serenity, but I checked. I had to use all my fingers and toes but can confirm that 20 years have passed since it hit the big screens.

  • Have you seen the commission list lately? We do our best to find artists taking pre-ordered commissions for San Diego Comic-Con and team member Andy keeps them all organized on this handy post that you should bookmark now. Andy will be adding artist Mark Alvarado, and any other artist we find, as soon as they open up their spots.

Still trying to draw on paper again. A work in progress but looking forward to taking #SDCC commissions this year. Side note: I've tried to "undo" lines by double tapping a pencil many times already.#art #pencil #drawing #draw #ink #sketch #sketchbook #random #illustration #marker #artist

  • Nobody does kaiju and giant creatures quite like artist Lenny Romero (trust me on that) and so we look forward to seeing him in person at San Diego Comic-Con. Before that though, Lenny, friend….are you ok? Do you need some coffee? Your 2025 schedule is INSANE.
  • Martin Hsu fans who missed out on picking up a copy of his sold out book, In Dreams, will have another chance at San Diego Comic-Con. Hsu warns that copies will be limited so you’ll want to contact him to preorder your copy.

  • One of my favorite things about scouring the internet and social media for San Diego Comic-Con news is finding “new-to-me” artists that I fall in love with. That happened this week with Pepe Valencia, who announced on Threads that he’ll be attending SDCC thanks to Big Wow Art. And a big “wow” is what I said when I took a gander at Valencia’s stunning art (I’ve included a small sample below for your jaw dropping pleasure). Keep an eye on his social media (and our post!) for his commission information.

  • Well, folks, we’ve got another artist with an insane schedule announcement. Chrissie Zullo Uminga is only three shows into a 17 show schedule. I spy with my little eye that San Diego Comic-Con has made the cut. Let’s all make a point of visiting Chrissie at SDCC to make sure she’s holding up ok, maybe bring her a snack?

  • And finally today, the astounding Carla Cohen will once again be at San Diego Comic-Con. Early birds will get 15% off of pre-show commissions before May 10. Hop on that deal, kids!
