Josh Chaiken of Scattered Brain is bringing a little nostalgia to San Diego Comic-Con this year with a booth full of custom Game Boys, enamel pins, and other gaming-inspired collectibles. Stop by Small Press #D-05 to check out his latest creations, including a convention-only experience for retro gaming fans.

Build Your Own Game Boy — Starting at $175

Instead of choosing from pre-built handhelds, attendees can design their own custom Game Boy Color at the show. Choose from more than 15 shell and button colors to create one of more than 6,000 possible combinations, then have it assembled on-site for same-day pickup.

Each refurbished system features a bright 2.95″ LCD display with a higher resolution than the original Game Boy Color, USB-C charging, and compatibility with original Game Boy and Game Boy Color cartridges. It will be available to the first 60 fans, with prices starting at $175 ($185 for the limited white-bordered screen option).

Game Boy Enamel Pin — $30 (SDCC Debut)

If you’d rather wear your nostalgia than play it, Chaiken is also debuting a clever Game Boy enamel pin featuring three interchangeable magnetic screens. Swap between Pokémon Red/Blue, Tetris, or Super Mario Land 2 whenever the mood strikes. The SDCC debut pin will be available at a convention-exclusive price of $30.

More Gaming Goodness

Chaiken will also have 15 additional enamel pin designs inspired by favorite video games, movies, and TV shows, with several making their SDCC debut.

He’s also teaming up with fellow builder Knotendo, who will be offering refurbished and upgraded Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, and Game Boy Macro systems for fans looking to add another unique handheld to their collection.
