Designer toy company Kidrobot always makes some of the most visually interesting, high-end (but still affordable) exclusives at the convention – and this year is no different, with pieces celebrating 20 years of SpongeBob to a Chia Pet Dunny.
The presale is back for 2019 (yay!), set for Wednesday, May 22 – Friday, May 24. There will be limited quantities of each vinyl figure available at 9AM PT each of the three days on their site — and these limited pre-sale orders will ship after the convention. If you’d prefer to purchase on-site, you can head to Booth #2846 during the con.
Additionally at the booth, you’ll find South African artist/designer Colus signing art lithographs of a new Kidrobot x Disney Bambi and Thumper Life Size Resin Art Sculpture (set to be unveiled at the con) on Saturday, July 23. You can get an art lithograph with every pre-order of the sculpture.
Here’s a look at this year’s exclusives:
Kidrobot’s first San Diego Comic-Con exclusive is Kidrobot x Aggretsuko Rage 6″ Vinyl Art Figure – Red Glow In The Dark, a glow-in-the-dark vinyl of the character from the Netflix series Aggretsuko. It’s limited to 500 pieces, and will retail for $40.
Then it’s the King of the Monsters himself, with the Kidrobot Mecha Godzilla 8″ Vinyl Art Figure – Chrome Electroplated. This 8″ vinyl figure is a throwback to the original mecha monster first introduced in 1974’s Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla. The chrome electroplated figure is limited to just 500 pieces, and retails for $100 each.
To celebrate 20 years of your favorite sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea, Kidrobot has created the Kidrobot SpongeBob 20th Anniversary 8″ Art Figure – Rainbow. The 8″ vinyl figure features a clear shell with a semi-translucent rainbow design, and a special surprise inside — there’s a real sponge inside! The figure is limited to 300 pieces, and retails for $50 each.
And finally, after the success of last year’s Chia Dunny, Kidrobot has created a second version! This new iteration is the Kidrobot Buzzkill Chia Pet Dunny by Kronk, a 4″ “guardian spirit of weird trips and contemplative highs”. And, of course, it features cha-cha-cha-CHIA hair. You can grab one of the limited 200 pieces for just $40 each.
