Long weekends were made for catching up on San Diego Comic-Con news, and we have plenty for you to brush up on. From panels (so many panels!), an explosive offsite at the Interactive Zone, art both cute and ghoul-ish, and more, we have plenty of updates for you from your favorite artists, authors, publishers, and beyond.
Let’s take a look at the news you might have missed:
- The Oatmeal, otherwise known as Matthew Inman and his world of comics, games, and beyond, is promising a cat-astrophic good time at San Diego Comic-Con this year. His popular card game, Exploding Kittens, is being turned into a Netflix animated series, with the purr-miere set for July of 2024. That makes it perfect timing for the con, and a meow-sive sized promo. Which is exactly what Inman looks to be delivering, as he showed off what is clearly a super-sized version of one of the characters from the game/series, and revealed that he will have a “20 foot tall furry booth at Petco Park”. That presumably means a presence at the Petco Interactive Zone. He will also be on a panel, though details are still to be revealed for what, and if it’s related to the TV show or not. Start sharpening your claws (and your card skills).

- Comic illustrator Sean Von Gorman teased (literally) that Magma Comix will be heading to San Diego Comic-Con, and their budget might even be bigger than two quarters and a pack of chewing gum. Magma, an independent publisher committed to empowering comic creators and their creator-owned passion projects, made their pop culture convention debut at WonderCon earlier this year with an exclusive, signings, and more. So all kidding aside, we’re excited to see what Magma has planned for SDCC.
I don’t know where @MagmaComix is getting the funding from! WAIT til you see what they do for #SDCC https://t.co/mOFAbaHfOZ
