Mattel San Diego Comic-Con 2023 Exclusives, Events, Panels [UPDATE July 18]

If there’s one company that many have been asking to join the San Diego Comic-Con Online Exclusives Portal lottery system — it’s Mattel. They have some of the best licenses around, from Barbie to Star Wars.

New for 2023, they will be part of the online lottery. To enter you’ll be able to log into your Member ID to assign your points and request a 60-minute shopping appointment at the Mattel booth #2945. The portal is open now through July 16, at11:59pm PT according to Mattel.

While most of the day’s timeslots will be available through the portal, at a certain point, Mattel will open the booth to anyone with quantities that remain for that day. For those lucky enough to win, make sure that you bring your QR code to the booth along with photo ID a few minutes before your designated timeslot.

Payments at the booth will be via credit card only, no cash.

Mattel is diving in with more announcements this morning, including a MEGA Pokémon Magikarp Building Set. The 1,574-piece building set will be available for $65.

For Mattel’s next San Diego Comic-Con exclusive, they’re bringing a Masters of the Universe: Revelation Motherboard

The 12″ tall figure is a true statement piece, with mechanical wings that expand to 24″ wide. It features 30 points of articulation and comes equipped with articulated hands, a soft goods cape, collar, and cables that are connected to a removable back peg.

It will be available for $65 both on-site at San Diego Comic-Con through a lottery win, or online starting Friday, July 21 at 9am PT.

Mattel’s 12 Days of Fandom reaches Day 5 and the San Diego Comic-Con Unofficial Blog are pleased to present exclusives from two distinct fandoms. Both of these exclusives will be available at the Mattel Creation Fan Shop, booth #2945, during the convention, as well as in limited quantities online at Mattel Creations starting Friday, July 21.

It was the moment that sparked a saga, now immortalized in the Mattel Little People Collector The Avatar: The Last Airbender Set. Styled after the very first episode from 2005, “The Boy in the Iceberg,” this is a 3 figure set featuring deluxe packaging. Join Katara and Sokka as they start their day fishing but end up discovering Aang, the long-lost Avatar, frozen in an iceberg. 

In addition to offering this Collector’s Set, Mattel will also be hosting a Little People Collector Avatar: The Last Airbender Poster Giveaway at booth #3029 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 3:30pm. Little People Collector will be handing out exclusive posters based on the show, with a few lucky fans receiving a poster signed by the creators of the show. 

Sure, San Diego is known for it’s famous Comic-Con, but it’s also known for the exemplary San Diego Zoo and their pandas. Almost as rare as the real thing, this San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Minecraft Diamond Level Panda Action Figure is 5.5 inches with pixel perfect colors and textures. Designed especially for adult collectors, it comes with 5 faces, enabling fans to change the Panda’s expression. Smooshy cake and tasty bamboo accessories are included.

[UPDATE July 13]

Mattel is here to school you with a Monster High Freak Du Chic Draculaura Figure. This acroBAT-ic figure is fully articulated, and features a layered shimmer bodysuit with bow bodice, bat wings, anda ccent ruffles, as well as stylized makeup, golden bat earrings, a pink bat-ear cat, and ribbon shoes with claw heels that let her grip the batty trapeze bar.

It all comes packaged in premium display packaging, that allow you to display her hanging upside down or rightside up.

It will be available for $75 both on-site at San Diego Comic-Con through a lottery win, or online starting Friday, July 21 at 9am PT.

Bleeding Cool got a look at another Hot Wheels exclusive from Mattel, this time for Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. This Hot Wheels AT-ST is the perfect vehicle to destroy an evil Empire and restore hope to the galaxy. The vehicle features fun details, a die-cast body, and a Chewbacca figure raising his hand in victory.

Marvel fans should race to the Mattel booth (okay, no, don’t do that — walk, don’t run) for their Hot Wheels RacerVerse Marvel 2-Pack, featuring Thanos and Iron Man. This new line features character and car combinations from your favorite pop culture properties — and this two-pack offers electronic light-up features, an orange track, and comes with an acrlyic case and decorative outer box.

It will be available for $40 both on-site at San Diego Comic-Con through a lottery win, or online starting Friday, July 21 at 9am PT.

[UPDATE July 11]

It’s a very big year for Jurassic Park, as the 1993 film celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, and Mattel is celebrating with two different San Diego Comic-Con exclusive sets. IGN got the first look at both sets today, which starts with Jurassic Park: The Hammond Collection “Man Creates Dinosaurs” Steven Spielberg  Figure.

You can recreate the making of the film with this set which includes a figure of Spielberg and various accessories including a director’s chair and camera, and a companion Dilophosaurus, and even a life-size cardboard replica of the Jurassic Park clapperboard.

No word on pricing, but it will be available on-site at San Diego Comic-Con through a lottery win, or online starting Friday, July 21 at 9am PT.

There’s also a Hot Wheels Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler & Dr. Ian Malcolm set, which features diecast components and packaging inspired by the iconic scene where Dr. Malcolm and others are almost eaten by the T-Rex.

[UPDATE July 10]

Mattel is kicking off their 12 Days of Fandom reveals with a WWE Ultimate Edition Muhammad Ali Action Figure Set, which will be available on-site at San Diego Comic-Con through a lottery win, or online starting Friday, July 21 at 9am PT.

The set includes two figures — both Muhammad Ali and a referee. Muhammad Ali features over 30 points of articulation, comes with multiple heads and hands, and comes in specially designed celebratory packaging. It will be available for $70.

Mattel has reveled the exciting events they will be hosting at their booth this year, as well as several panels. The in-booth events will require a ticket which you must “win” via the Comic-Con Online Exclusive Portal lottery system. You can enter now though July 16 at 11:59pm PT.
