San Diego Comic-Con 2023 List of Announced Panels

The official San Diego Comic-Con schedule is normally released exactly two weeks before the convention (which would put this year’s release dates on July 6-9), but many properties reveal long before then that they’ll be attending the convention. This is where you can find all of our compiled announcements in one handy master post.

We’ll be updating this post all the way until the schedules are officially announced — and it’s important to note that the schedule is never finalized until Comic-Con International or the various studios/entities reveal it. All schedules are subject to change.

Figure Drawing for Popular Media (2pm-3pm, Room 11). Emilio Soltero, PhD, MA (John Buscema: A Life in Sketches; Gorillas in da Mix) presents a primer on drawing the figure for popular media, including drawing for comics and character design, joined by Crystal Aquino (panel model). The focus will be on anatomy and figure drawing. Emilio will lecture and demonstrate on figure drawing. There will be time to draw as well. Join Emilio and Crystal for this active presentation. Professionals and beginners are welcome. Bring your drawing supplies to draw during this interactive presentation. Come ready to take notes and to draw.

Gotham City (12:45pm-1:45pm, Room 6DE). Whether it’s in the past, present, or future, Gotham City has been the backdrop for some of the greatest stories in DC history featuring Batman, his allies and his foes. Join DC storytellers Tom King, Tini Howard, Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, Ram V, Belén Ortega and a surprise guest or two to find out what’s to come for The Dark Knight and the other Super Heroes and Super-Villains that make Gotham City the place to be in the DCU!

Marvel and Proko Teach “The Art of Storytelling” (5pm-6pm, Room 11). Learn the art of comic book storytelling with Marvel and Proko! Join our panel of industry veterans as they share their expertise on creating compelling stories, developing memorable characters, and mastering the art of visual storytelling. We’ll be covering several topics from Proko’s latest course on making comics with Marvel featuring instructors from the course! Splattergore: The History of ’90s Horror, Underground and Outlaw Comics (7pm, Room 25ABC). Frank Forte (Asylum Press, Heavy Metal, Cry for Dawn), Tim Vigil (Faust, Gothic Nights, David Quinn (Faust, Dr. Strange), Joshua Sky (Heavy Metal) discuss the history of 90s horror comics including the late 80s indie scene which led to the 90s black and white boom. Celebrating the release of Faust:Love of The Damned TPB Collection, Tim and David talk about the origins and long publishing history of Faust. Frank talks about Northstar Publications, Grips, Cry for Dawn, Faust, Lady Death, Verotik, Boneyard Press, Twisted Tales, From Beyonde, Taboo, Slow Death, Razor, Vamperotica, Tarot Witch of the Black Rose, NightCry, Marvel’s Hellraiser and more. Underground and “Outlaw” horror comics had an effect on the industry as a whole because they were doing huge print runs and there was a rabid fanbase for the genre. Some companies went too far and comics were banned, some stories led to police investigations and charges filed. It was an interesting time to be reading comics, so come one come all and let’s relive it together. Slideshow with images will accompany the talk. More 90s comic creator guests to be announced.

Justice League: Warworld (9pm-11pm, Ballroom 20). Be among the first fans to see Warner Bros. Animation’s all-new, feature-length film “Justice League: Warworld” at this World Premiere screening. In this R-rated film, DC’s Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman find themselves in mysterious lands and precarious circumstances with no memory of how they arrived there and only vague recollections of their true selves.
